Within my personal website, I want to present you the State where I am living, which it is called:

La Creuse.

Between country of oïl and country of oc, the department of La Creuse, attached administratively to the area of the Limousin and geographically to the Massif Central, corresponds mainly to the territory of the old province of La Marche.

Located 248 miles South of PARIS, 217 miles West of LYON, and 195 miles East of BORDEAUX, the department extends to the North-Western plateau of the Massif Central. Altitudes drop from the South-East to the North-West, and culminate with the plateau of Millevaches and Gentioux, and the mounts of La Marche. Taurion, Gartempe, and above all, La Creuse and La Petite Creuse which these reliefs run through.

It is one of the smallest French departments in terms of population (in 1999, 124.470 inhabitants divided over 266 districts). The Limousin region includes: Haute Vienne, Corrèze and Creuse, it is very rural. It gets its name from the river (Creuse) which crosses it. The ground is granitic.

The Prefecture is Guéret, the Aubusson is the Sub-prefecture, where the traditional activity of the tapestry gives it international fame.

   

The varied landscapes allow a multitude of sporting activities: walking, horse-riding, water sports on its rivers and multiple lakes (sailboard, water skiing, canoe, kayak), stunt-riding, sports mechanical (enduro, 4WD, karting, flying school), gliding (Guéret-Montlucon aerodrome) etc...

      

Accomodation is ensured by many hotels, rural lodgings and hosts rooms. It is a calm and resting place. Its motto is " the green and blue space " or " In Creuse, happy holiday ".
